| 産地： | Barbatia virescens are mainly distributed in Mainland China, Taiwan, and Japan. The heavily harvested areas in Taiwan are the river mouths in the west, that extends from Taibei to Penghu. |
| 特徴： | It is medium sized, the exterior ligament is located on the rear. 3 teeth are the front side teeth and the primary teeth. It has a pair of adductor muscle. The line curve is triangle or circle. The shell is inflated oblong, the rear end is slightly wedge-shaped and the front end is arc, the center of the ventral margin of the shell is slightly pointed. Lunule of the front end and the back end of the face shield is not clear. The top front of the shell expands to both sides and is tilted to the front. The color of the shell is yellow-brown, but the outer edge is purple, like a purple ring, hence it is also called the red mouth clam. The shell has wheels and radial ribs, in the outer purple part it becomes particularly clear and then it feels textured engraving. The inner surface of the shell is white, the inner shell has purple edges and small serrated, hard a well-developed hinge teeth. The shell is slightly rounded, 3-5 cm long, 3-5cm high, and 0.5mm thick. Yellow or blue-white appearance. The shell is light, hard, slightly crisp and the cross-layer pattern is not obvious. It smells a little fishy.
