特徴:Thais luteostoma is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Muricidae, the murex snails or rock snails. It lives near the rocks of the intertidal. It feeds on other shellfish, and it is edible. It is widely distributed along China and Japan's coast.
Shells are of medium size, hard and spindle-shaped, with height of 43 mm and width of 27 mm. it has 7 spiral layers and the suture is inconspicuous and shallow. The spire part is as high as one second of the shell height. Shell surface is thin. Each spiral layer has a central apophysis to form shoulders, over the shoulder angle is a line of horn-like rostrum. Some individuals also have small projection columns directly above the suture. There are 4 columns on body whorl. The entire shell surface has many fine snail patterns. Shell surface is yellow and purple, and the horns are yellowish. Shell mouth is long oval and inside is yellow with a few purple-brown spots. Outer lip is thin. Inside there are 4 or 5 small, nipple-shaped teeth, outer rim has a thin notch. Inner lip is slightly straight and smooth. Front sulcus is short, and the front Apex slightly bends towards the back. The shell has a horny operculum. It lives near the rocks of the intertidal. It feeds on other shellfish, and it is edible. It is widely distributed along China and Japan's coast.
