In May 2014, the total volume of aquatic products has decreased by 16.81% year-on-year to 45520 tons, and the total turnover has increased by 5.62% year-on-year to 986.1 million Yuan. Totally 2145 fishing boats were out to sea which has increased by 33.89%. The Price index of this month has increased by 1.4%/1.81 to 130.29 compared with last month. The price of main economic fish remained stable in this month and specific reasons and transactions are as follows:

1. From May the first, fishing ways of fencing net with lights, sails net started to be banned so that some production of fish decreased, which hasn’t influenced the general fish price. The price of some main economic fish remained stable.

2. In May, with abundant spring crabs traded in the market, the total transaction of blue crabs has increased by 39.46% to 17006 tons with steadily increasing production. That owes to some  protective measures taken since April to ban fishing spawning crabs or young crabs. In May, the price of common blue crabs has declined to some certain extent with the fluctuation of demands. However, as the overall closed fishing season is approaching, the price of high quality blue swimming crabs has increased noticeably. Generally, the price was more stable compared with April.

With girder pole shrimp boats, cage and pots fishing boats and thorn net boats starting fishing one after another, the transaction volume of this month has dramatically increased compared with the last month when only fence net boats with lights were permitted.

It Is expected that in June almost all fishing ways of sails net, trawl, truss rod, cage pot and thorn network will be banned, the transaction and production of live and fresh products will decline noticeably and therefore the price index will go up with the decreasing production volume.
