In July 2014, the total volume of aquatic products has increased by 7.93% year-on-year to 10210 tons, and the total turnover by 9.01% year-on-year to 271.1 million Yuan. The Price index of this month has decreased by 10.07 to 156.7 compared with last month. Because of the closed fishing season, the price of fresh and live aquatic products remain high. Specific reasons and transactions are as follows:

 

1. In July East fishery continued to ban fishing ways of sails net, trawl, truss rod, cage pot and thorn network. Few fishing ships were out to sea, compared with June when only fence net boats with lights were permitted to fish. The main traded products were little hairtail, pomfret and herring. 

In Zhongshatou Fresh Products Trading Area, 85 fishing ships were out to sea and the total tonnage amounted to 1312 tons. Thus, the transaction continued to be mild.

 

2. With further construction of the new zone, as well as the impact from the recently released movie “the Continent” which introduces and praises Dongji Island, the reputation and popularity of Zhoushan has been further enhanced. Hence, visitors across the country has increased dramatically. Meanwhile, with the advance of investment promotion, e-commerce, tourism marketing, the aquatic product city has grasped this opportunity to enhance the fast-rising popularity. Visitors are flocking to the buy dried products so as to bring vitality to the market,  accordingly, the transaction of dried aquatic products has continued to increase on year-on-year basis. 

 

3. Even in closed fishing season, local people as well as some visitors still have larger demand for aquatic products. However, products from other places and the frozen seafood stored beforehand filled the vacancy so that the transaction of bred and frozen products was quite busy. .

 

It Is expected that in August as the fishing ways of sails net, trawl, truss rod, cage pot and thorn network will be permitted, the transaction of shrimps and crabs will increase considerably and the price index of live and fresh products will go up to the normal range with the increasing production volume and wharf trading will peak.
