In August 2014, the total volume of aquatic products has increased by 15.63% year-on-year to 82290 tons, and the total turnover by 11.9% year-on-year to 1.2235 billion Yuan. The Price index of this month has decreased by 17.5 to 139.2 compared with last year. With the end of closed fishing season, the price of fresh and live aquatic products starts to decrease, specific reasons and transactions are as follows:

1. With girder pole shrimp boats, cage and pots fishing boats and thorn net boats starting fishing one after another, the transaction volume of this month has dramatically increased compared with the last month when only fence net boats with lights were permitted. Besides, this month has started to see the trading of economic fish such as hairtail, pomfret and little yellow croaker, compared with the last month when only little beltfish, common octopus and herring were traded. Generally, the transaction of fresh aquatic products has started to be busy. 

2. The price of live products has decreased sharply compared with July. The price has been in a low status in this month, especially the price of the port swimming crab has decreased noticeably, the un-assorted ones were around 8-10 Yuan each, the price of 200 grams or more male crab fluctuated around 20-30 Yuan. Therefore the transaction volume of shrimps and crabs has increased dramatically in this month. Frozen seafood transaction volume kept almost the same as the last year’s because of the sufficient supply, and the transaction of major economic fish was in good condition.

3. The total volume of production and transaction of autumn crab amounted to 21498 tons this month and more than 1383 fishing boats were out to sea. Because of the low price of un-assorted crabs, some fishing boats sopped fishing. It is said that about 1 third of crab fishing boats haven’t started fishing . The transaction volume of frozen products is expected to further increase with all fishing ways being resumed to be adopted in East Sea fisheries in September. Conventionally, the trading price will decline to some extent with the increasing transaction volume. However, the price of some main economic fish is expected to remain stable. By the way, because of the approaching Mid-autumn festival and National Day Holiday, the price will also fluctuate accordingly.
